LeBron James contract details: Lakers star returns to LA with massive two-year deal

NBA fans who remember 2010, 2014, and 2018 know this summer wasn't the same. After opting out for the first time in six years  

James' agent, Rich Paul, stated earlier in the offseason that the NBA legend was a free agent and didn't know which team he would play for, 

Multiple reports say James has signed a two-year, $104 million Lakers contract. The deal contains a second-season player option and a no-trade clause,

James controls his Lakers tenure with his new contract. He is on a year-to-year contract in Los Angeles and can depart at any time if he deems the team's title chances are over. 

James has earned $479.5 million in 21 seasons, and his new deal guarantees he will easily reach $500 million in year 22.

James was not the highest-paid player on his club for a long time, but his longevity and greatness have made him the highest-paid NBA player.  

James is expected to make $583.5 million by the end of his new contract, although retirement or an opt out after the 2024-25 NBA season might influence that amount.
