Ben Simmons to 76ers? Why some Philadelphia fans are talking themselves into reunion after Paul George deal

After struggling in the 2021 NBA Playoffs and holding out in 2021-22, the former All-Star had little support in Philadelphia.

Many 76ers fans were pleased when Simmons was moved to the Netts for James Harden in February 2022.

The 2024 offseason saw some 76ers fans go wayward. Simmons' fans want him back in Philadelphia just a few years after they wanted him out.

Why some 76ers fans want Ben Simmons reunion

Simmons had his best years with the 76ers, making the playoffs all four seasons and garnering three All-Star honours.

Some supporters want him back this offseason after two years apart. Simmons would play a lighter role with Joel Embiid on a title contender.

The Netts would have to buy out Simmons, who has one more year on his $40.3 million contract. It would enable the 76ers to sign Simmons on a minimum-wage contract.

In free agency this offseason, Tobias Harris left the 76ers after five years and $180 million.

Some fans want Simmons back, while others think it's crazy. Some think Simmons shouldn't return to the 76ers "under any circumstances."
